When Granny Fell Out of the Overhead Locker

When Granny fell out of the locker
on the flight to Tenerife
the steward said she’d be safer
securely stored under my seat.

As she flew towards the cockpit
it caused a bit of a panic
and 19C was a bit annoyed
when she plopped in his gin and tonic.

The hold was a better option
but she weighed in at 70 pounds
and the carousel makes her dizzy
when we leave her going round.

Squashing her in during boarding
did take me quite a while.
Mum was relieved during take off
she didn’t take flight in the aisle.

Dad says she’s too much trouble
for a weekend or half term break.
He’s suggesting that next summer
we should send her ahead as freight.
